Paranormal activity applies to abnormal phenomenon that challenges rational explanations. It is most commonly associated with spirits. While most people are terrified of ghosts, there are others who jump at the chance to "ghost hunt".

There are people who believe that ghosts are lost souls or spirits who can not moveon due to unfinished business. Spirits are also believed to have electromagnetic energy that allows them to  manipulate electrical appliances.

Basic ghost hunting tips:

1. Experienced Ghost Hunters ask novices to be respectful of the spirits

2. You should never attempt to threaten, tease or dare unseen spirits, for they are known to have the ability to harm people. 

3. This is very serious, you should never play around while in the field. 

4. Control,and self-confidence are your only tools to protecting oneself while ghost hunting. 

5. While in groups you should find good haunted spots, such as,cemeteries, and abandoned schools, houses and churches. 

6. Have permission before entering private property. 

7. Always have flashlights,and remember to tread lightly while in old abandoned buildings, the foundation wears after many years. 

8. Never ghost hunt alone, always stay with a group.

9. You should always bring recording devices with you for documentation  A 35mm camera with 400 ASA film or higher is recommended.

10. Comfortable clothing is a must, and wear rubber soled shoes in case running is required. 

11. Bring an electromagnetic field meter or compass.Spirits have energy that can easily be detected using this equipment. You would realize a possible presence if the frequency reaches 3-7 milligauss.

12. Visit the site durin gthe day first, to become familiar with any problems with the foundation, whether they be holes, dips, etc.
 
13. When it is raining, snowing, or foggy you should not take pictures. Precipitation and moisture  will cause artificial effects on the film. Smoke can also distort your film, you should refrain from smoking, and steer clear of fires.

14. Daytime investigations should be given a try as well, ghosts can be seen in daylight.

Some people Ghost hunt for the thrill of it, while others want to document paranormal activity. Whichever your reasoning, remember that safety is of the upmost importance,and everyone should follow the basic rules.
